New Volga Express Overland Service from China to Russia

  • Russian Railways have launched a new overland service from China to Russia branded the Volga Express, the company said in its social media account.

Block train will depart Shenyang in China and proceed vi the Zabaikalsk-Manchouli border crossing to the Bezymyanka terminal in the city of Samara. The first train is to run on March 23.

Cargo, mostly consisting of consumer goods, will be delivered for consolidation to Shenyang from Ningbo, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Qingdao and Dalian by rail and road.

The new service from China is expected to reduce the pressure on the Russian Far East ports which are facing congestion due to the increased import container traffic.
