A.P. Moller – Maersk has announced an agreement to divest its logistics sites in St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk to IG Finance Development Limited. Maersk divesting the two sites is a consequence of the company’s decision made in March 2022 to discontinue activities in Russia, the company said in a statement.
The transaction has obtained the needed regulatory approvals in the EU and Russia, and upon acquiring the facilities IG Finance Development Limited has made an agreement with Arosa, a large food importer in Russia, to operate the sites in St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk.
As no further approvals are needed, the divestment is closed and effective as of 17 February 2023.
The 23,500 m2 chilled and frozen warehouse in St. Petersburg was put into operation in 2020. The cold store has several chambers with different temperatures and uses CO2 cooling technology. At the ceremony marking the start of the construction, the then Maersk CEO Soren Skou said the project was worth $30 mn.
The inland depot in Novorossiysk was acquired by Maersk Property Holding from Terminal A in July this 2021. The depot located 10 km from the port covers a territory of 3 ha and has two rail branches 570 m long in total. The facility has capacity to store 1,500 TEU, the expected annual turnover is 25,000 containers. The facility and specializes in handling commercial cargo such as grains from railway wagons to sea containers.
