SWIFT-RUS has launched a new rail container service from China to Russia. The first trains ran from Chongqing in China to the railway station of Tikhonovo in Tatarstan, Russia via the territory of Kazakhstan crossing the border at Altynkol-Khorgos.
Most of the cargo is consumer goods, in future the company intends to add electronic devices and cars and to update the service frequency to weekly. Starting in mid-November, the train is expected to make return runs with goods from Russia to China.
“The service allows of optimizing delivery for customers in the Volga region. Previously, cargo to and from the region was carried via Moscow. Now, we offer a direct solution,” Alexandr Podylov, Managing Director of SWIFT-RUS, commented.
