The multifunctional ro-lo vessel “Sparta” chartered by Russia’s federal port agency Rosmorport has started serving the Ust-Luga – Kaliningrad route, Rosmorport said in a statement.
The ship is designed to transport ro-ro cargo, trailers and semi-trailers, containers and general cargo. She has three cargo decks with a capacity of 180 TEU of laden containers or 641 empty container, and 40 reefer sockets.
The first voyage from Ust-Luga started on October 16 as the ship took on board 119 containers, 15 ro-ro units, and 458.9 tons of general cargo designated for Kaliningrad.
The MV “Sparta” will make up to two voyages a week. Rosmorport has also chartered the multifunctional vessel “Sparta II” for the service. At present, the ship is en route from Novorossiysk to Kaliningrad. She is expected to be deployed in early November.
