«Росморпорт» модернизирует четыре ледокола-ветерана

Rosmorport to Modernize Four Icebreakers

  • Rosmorport, the RF governmental agency responsible for sea port property and services, will modernize four Project 1105 icebreakers, namely, “Kapitan Bukaev”, “Kapitan Zqrubin”, “Kapitan Chadaev”, and “Kapitan Chechkin”. the agency said in a statement.

    The vessel were built in 1977-1978. After modernization, they will be capable of continuing their service escorting vessels to and from port during winter navigation season and providing other commercial services when the icebreaking season is over.

    The technical modernization project will be developed by Nordic Engineering. The design part of the project is to be completed by spring 2023, and modernization proper is to be carried out during 2025-2030.

    It is planned to replace the basic and auxiliary mechanisms that have reached the end of their life cycle or are out of date, to update the control systems and install new automated systems, and to refurbish the crew’s living quarters.
