Government to Subsidize Ship Leasing Programme

  • The Government of the Russian Federation will assign 15 bn rubles ($249.7 mn) for a privileged maritime vessel leasing programme, Premier Mikhail Mishustin announced during a recent  meeting with vice premiers.

‘The outer barriers imposed have complicated procurement of components and equipment for the shipbuilding industry and resulted in a significant increase in costs. So, we will assign another 15 bn rubles for the privileged maritime vessel leasing programme,’ the Government press office quotes Mishustin as saying.

He noted that more than 300 vessels of different types are to be built at Russian yards for shipping companies by 2030. Vyborg Shipyard currently building a new icebreaker for the Northwest basin will receive a targeted subsidy of 3 bn rubles ($50 mn).
