New Block Train Runs from Irkutsk to China

  • TransContainer has launched a new rail container service from Irkutsk in Siberia to China via the Dostyk-Alashankou rail border crossing on the China-Kazakhstan border.

    The first train carrying 62 containers has already left TransContainer’s terminal at the rail station of Batareinaya in Irkutsk for Qingdao, TransContainer sad. The transit time from Irkutsk to Qingdao makes 10 days.

    The service is aimed mainly for export designated sawn goods. TransContainer offers its own equipment and organizes rail transportation in Russia and Kazakhstan. Customers can arrange transportation services in China via TransContainer’s agents or independently.

    According to TransContainer, in future, the company plans to run up to three trains per month. Also, other destinations can be added later.

    TransContainer already operates block trains from the station of Batareinaya via the railway border crossings points of Zabaikalsk and Naushki and offer multimodal services to China via Global Ports’ VSC marine terminal in the port of Vostochny.
