Car Sales in Russia Down 5% YoY in February

  • According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB) statistics, the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia during January-February 2022 declined by 4.3% year-on-year and to make 206 thousand units.

    In February alone, 114.3 thousand cars and light commercial vehicles were sold, down 4.8% year-on-year and up 20.1% month-on-month, Association of European Businesses has reported.

    Lada remained the leader of the Russian car market in February 2022 with its sales down 20.8% year-on-year to 22.4 thousand units.

    KIA rated the second with its sales down 9.2% year-on-year to 15 thousand cars.

    Hyundai was the third with its sales making 13.8 thousand cars, down 0.6% year-on-year.

    Renault ranked the fourth and the only brand in the Top 5 that saw it sales grow by 2.1% year-on-year up to 10.4 thousand units.

    Toyota ranked the fifth with its sales down 0.9% year-on-year to 7.6 thousand units.

    The brands that increased their sales the most were Cheryexeed (up 7.7-fold), Chevrolet (up 4.7-fold) и GAC (up 2.5-fold).

    The brands that saw their sales decline the most were Lifan (-94%), Zotye (-75%), Foton commercial vehicles (-71%), and Fiat commercial vehicles (-69%).
