Rosmorport, Russia’s Federal port agency, has been granted an approval from the Main State Department of Expertise for the project of building a port fleet base in the port of Ust-Luga.
The base’s primary functions will be providing berthing and services for tugboats, pilot cutters, oil-spill boats, etc., collecting and utilizing vessel waste, and monitoring and collecting oil spills.
The first version of the project documentation was developed in 2008 and now needed correction to the changes in the project and in the construction and development legislation.
Active construction of the port fleet base in Ust-Luga was in process during 2011-2017, but was suspended after the general contractor filed for bankruptcy in 2017.
At present, a new contractor is being chosen and the permit for construction is being obtained. The plan is to resume construction work in Q3 2022.
