Vanino Port served six container vessels from China during the last four months of 2021 after resuming handling containers in September.
The aggregate container throughput in 2021 amounted to some 4,000 TEU. The port sent more than 30 block trains to destinations in Russia and the EU.
At present, the port is modernizing its container handling facilities. This year, an additional berth is to be allocated for serving container vessels.
The port aims to expand its container terminal capacity up to 90,000 TEU and plans to handle at least four container ships a month. The current capacity is some 45,000 TEU per annum.
The port has also obtained a permit from the customs to store imported containers at its warehousing facilities.
