Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in October Up 1.7%

  • The total container throughput via the Russian Far East basin ports in October 2021 increased by 1.7% year-on-year. Import grew by 16.9%. Export declined by 2.8%, cabotage by 4%, transit was down 86%.

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in October 2021 amounted to 37.5%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 3.5% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 8.5% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 91.5%. Imports made 55.8% of all the laden containers, cabotage 25.4%, exports 18.3% and transit 0.5%.

    Empty container traffic was down 2.7%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 62.4% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in October. Vostochny handled 19.1%, and Korsakov 5.8% of the total.
