Container Traffic via Azov and Black Sea Basin Ports Down 5.8% in October 2021

  • The total container throughput via the Azov and Black Sea basin ports in October 2021 decreased by 5.8% year-on-year. Export was down 4.5%, and import down 7%.

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the share of the Azov and Black Sea basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in October 2021 amounted to 13%.

    Laden container throughput declined by 0.1% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 15.6% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 84.4%. Exports made 53.6% of all the laden containers, and imports 46.4%.

    Empty container traffic decreased by 27.2%.

    The port of Novorossiysk accounted for 98.9% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Azov and Black Sea basin sea ports in October. Azov handled 1.1%, and Kavkaz 0.01% of the total.
