Foreign trade via the Baltic Customs made $40.3 mn during January-October 2021, up 24% year-on-year.
The number of cargo declarations issued amounted to more than 305.9 thousand including 267.2 thousand import declarations (up 10.8%) and 38.8 thousand export ones (up 17%).
The number of foreign trade agents active in the Baltic Customs’ zone made 10.4 thousand during the period under report, up 4.3% year-on-year.
In terms of tonnage, over 23.5 mn tons of cargo was declared via the Baltic Customs, up 4.6% year-on-year. Import traffic was up 13.1% to more than 9.9 thousand tons, while export declined by 14.5% down to 13.5 mn tons.
A significant share in the import volume was fruit accounting for 19.9%. Other top import commodities were polymer materials, inorganic chemical products, equipment, and vessels and boats.
The top export commodities were ore, stag and ash (33.1%), fertilizers, timber and woodwork, ferrous metals, salt, sulphur, soil and stones.
The major countries of origin for import cargo in the Baltic Customs region in January-October 2021 were China, Ecuador, Germany, South Africa, and India.
The top countries of destination for export via the Baltic Customs were China (its share made 37.5%), Turkey and Brazil.
