On week 43, a slight increase in freight rates in the Azov and Black Sea region is to be observed. Freight rates for a 3K parcels of 3 wheat from the port of Azov to Marmara are at the level of $45 pmt. Despite the low activity in wheat shipments, there is a large number of other grain cargoes on the market, Sea Lines shipbrokers report.
Charterers are actively calculating shipments of corn, meal, bran, safflower and some other high stowage crops this week. In addition, charterers are considering contracts for long-distance destinations, such as Mersin, Lebanon, Greece and Italy.
This week, corn harvesting has been completed, so shippers expect lower prices in the domestic market and an increase in the number of shipments of this crop.
On week 43, freight rates for 3,000-5,000 dwt bulkers from the port of Azov moved up.
According to Sea Lines, freight rates for wheat parcels from Azov made $43 to the Black Sea, $45 to Marmara, $65 to Mersin and $66 to Egypt.
Freight rates from Rostov AB (after bridge) are $1 above, from Rostov BB (before bridge) the same, from Yeisk and Taganrog $1 below, and from Temryuk $3 below those from the port of Azov.
In the Caspian region, freight rates rose slightly this week reaching $38 pmt for a 3K corn parcel from Astrakhan to North Iran. The number of cargoes from Astrakhan has decreased, but the lack of free tonnage allows of maintaining a high rate level.
In the Caspian region, freight levels also increased.
On week 43, freight rates for shipping corn by 3,000 dwt bulkers to Iran made $28 from Aktau, $32 from Makhachkala, and $41 from Astrakhan.
