Russia’s LNG Export Up in August

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, Russia’s crude oil export in January-August 2021 was up down 5.8% year-on-year to some 150.6 mn tons. In terms of value, crude oil export increased by 38% year-on-year making $67.4 bn.

    Oil products export grew by 2.9% up to 96.2 mn tons. In terms of value it was up 42.1% to over $43.2 bn.

    Diesel fuel export made 33.1 mn tons in terms of tonnage (-4.9% year-on-year) and $16.1 bn in terms of value (+21.2%).

    Petrol export in January-August 2021 decreased by 22.6% year-on-year down to some 3.3 bn tons worth $1.8 bn, up 7.7%.

    In August, Russia exported 19.6 mn tons of crude oil, up 29.4% year-on-year and up 5.7% month-on-month. In terms of value, crude oil export surged 2.1-fold year-on-year and increased by 4.2% month-on-month to make $9.8 bn.

    Oil products export in August grew by 34.2% year-on-year and by 1.3% month-on-month to make 10.9 mn tons worth more than $5.7 bn (up 2.4-fold year-on-year and up 2.3% month-on-month).

    Diesel fuel export made 3.6 mn tons (up 28.5% year-on-year and up 1.7% month-on-month) worth $2.1 bn (up 2.3-fold year-on-year and up 2.9% month-on-month).

    Car petrol export in August declined by 24.4% year-on-year and by 10.5% month-on-month making 251.7 thousand tons worth $171.5 mn, up 72.5% year-on-year and down 6.6% month-on-month.

    Natural gas export in January-August 2021 amounted to 140.6 bn cbm, up 14.6% year-on-year. In terms of value it increased, by 98.4% up to more than $28.4 bn.

    Liquefied natural gas export during January-August 2021 was up 1.4% year-on-year to 49.1 mn cbm worth $4.8 bn, down 12.5%.

    In August, natural gas export made 16.8 bn cbm, down 2.3% year-on-year and up 18.3% month-on-month. Value-wise, it was worth $4.7 bn, down 40.4% year-on-year and up 48.9% month-on-month.

    LNG export in August amounted to 6.2 mn cbm, up 2.9-fold year-on-year and up 36.3% month-on-month. In terms of value, LNG export declined by 19.3% year-on-year and by 58% month-on-month making $440.4 mn.
