Sochi Looking to Resume Ferry Connection with Turkey

  • Russia’s Black Sea city of Sochi is planning to resume a ferry connection with Trabzon in Turkey, Alexey Kopaigorodsky, major of the city, said in his social media account.

He added that relaunching the connection will allow of cutting the prices for imported Turkish fruit and vegetables that are currently trucked to Sochi from the ports of Novorossiysk and Tuapse, some 200-400 tons a week. Besides, ferries will help reduce road traffic.

Kopaigorodsky believes Sochi is ready to launch the ferry connection. Apart from freight services, launching cruise voyages to Turkey is being discussed.
