Freight Rates from Ust-Luga, Week 39, 2021

  • In the Baltic region, there is uncertainty due to cargo readiness shipped with delays by railway. For grain cargoes, charterers are looking for vessels a month in advance, according to Sea Lines shipbrokers.

The situation is complicated by the absence of small-tonnage vessels in spot positions. The fleet is mostly concentrated near ARAG and England, which increases the average freight cost in the region. These trends are expected until the end of October.

On week 39, freight rates in the Baltic region short sea market continued to grow.

According to Sea Lines, freight rates for 3,000-5,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga to Riga made €27 pmt and those to Gdansk were €28 pmt.

Freight rates from Ust-Luga made €30 pmt to Szczecin, €33 to Flensburg, and €40 to Hamburg.

Rates from Ust-Luga were €42 pmt to ARAG, €48 pmt to East Britain, €51 pmt to West Britain, and €52 pmt to Dublin.
