Container Traffic via Azov and Black Sea Basin Ports in August 2021 Down 4.2%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Azov and Black Sea basin ports in August 2021 decreased by 4.2% year-on-year. Import was down 13.2%, export was up 5.5%. Cabotage was non-existent in August 2021.

    The share of the Azov and Black Sea basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in August 2021 amounted to 11.8%.

    Laden container throughput grew by 9% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 3.4% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 96.6%. Exports made 54.9% of all the laden containers, imports 45.1%.

    Empty container traffic declined by 43.7%.

    The port of Novorossiysk accounted for 98.3% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Azov and Black Sea basin sea ports in August. Azov handled 1.4%, and Kavkaz 0.2% of the total.
