Unique Rescue Vessel for Northern Sea Route

  • Russia has contracted a multifunctional IBSV02 project rescue vessel for the Northern Sea Route from the Turkey’s Sefine Denizcilik Tersanecilik Turizm Sanayi VE Ticaret AS. The company was the only bidder for the tender, according to the RF Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport.

    The innovative service to be built for the Maritime Rescue Service will be the most powerful ice-classed vessel in its fleet. The vessel will be capable of navigating in ice up to 1.5 meter thick providing icebreaking escort to ships in the Arctic. It can be also deployed in rescue operations and for underwater and diving operations at a depth up to 610 meters.
