Russian Crude Oil Export in January-April 2021: Oil Products Up

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, Russia’s crude oil export in January-April 2021 was down 21.1% year-on-year to 67 mn tons. In terms of value, crude oil export decreased by 10.4% year-on-year making $26.9 bn.

    Oil products export grew by 2.9% up to 49.4 mn tons. In terms of value it was up 2.7% to $20 bn.

    Diesel fuel export made 17.7 mn tons in terms of tonnage (-2.4% year-on-year) and $7.8 bn in terms of value (-9.8%).

    Petrol export in January-April 2021 decreased by 9.6% year-on-year down to 2.1 bn tons worth $996 mn, down 8%.

    In April, Russia exported 13.5 mn tons of crude oil, down 37.9% year-on-year and down 19.8% month-on-month. In terms of value, crude oil export increased by 32.4% year-on-year and declined by 16.9% month-on-month to make $5.9 bn.

    Oil products export in April grew by 15.7% year-on-year and decreased by 1.9% month-on-month to make 12.7 mn tons worth more than $5.7 bn (up 78.3% year-on-year and up 1.4% month-on-month).

    Diesel fuel export made 4.6 mn tons (up 13.4% year-on-year and up 6.3% month-on-month) worth $2.3 bn (up 59.2% year-on-year and up 11.1% month-on-month).

    Car petrol export in April grew by 26.2% year-on-year and decreased by 8.9% month-on-month making 587.6 thousand tons worth $313.9 mn, up 2.3-fold year-on-year and up 3.5% month-on-month.

    Natural gas export in January-April 2021 amounted to 74.8 bn cbm, up 25.5% year-on-year. In terms of value, it also increased, by 56.7% up to $13 bn.

    Liquefied natural gas export during January-April 2021 grew by 13.4% year-on-year up to 22.9 mn cbm, its value was down 21.3% to $1.9 bn.

    In April, natural gas export made 17.8 bn cbm, up 47.1% year-on-year and down 6.3% month-on-month. Value-wise, it was worth $3.3 bn, up 2.5-fold year-on-year and up 1.9% month-on-month.

    LNG export in April amounted to 8.6 mn cbm surged 2.5-fold year-on-year and up 7.5% month-on-month. In terms of value, LNG export grew by 16.2% year-on-year and declined by 15.5% month-on-month making $675.2 mn.
