The port of Shakhtersk has been the first on the island of Sakhalin to handle a 300 m LOA Capesize bulker and the first in Russia to load a record-breaking shipment of 188.1 thousand tons of coal.
The largest port-handled coal shipment previously recorded in Russia was 166.8 thousand tons loaded in 2019 in Vanino.
The 206,000 dwt Marshall Islands flagged “Mineral Yang Fan” bulker took on board 188.1 thousand tons of coal designated for India.
Shakhtersk can handle bulkers up to 300,000 dwt at the roadstead.
