BAM and TransSiberian Railway Capacity Reaches 144 mn tons in 2020

  • The cargo capacity of the Baikal-Amur Railway (BAM) and the TransSiberian Railway reached 144 mn tons in 2020, the target set by the Russian Railways’ mainline infrastructure modernization and expansion programme.

    The expansion allowed of increasing cargo traffic to the sea ports in the Russian Far East by 8.6% up to 110.4 mn tons. Coal export grew by almost 5% to make 100.9 mn tons, for the first time exceeding that carried westwards and southwards, which made 98.8 mn tons put together.
