Container Traffic via Caspian Basin Ports in November 2020 Up 26.1%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Russian Caspian basin ports in November 2020 increased by 26.1% year-on-year. Export grew by 12.8%, cabotage by 17.6%, and import was up 40%.

    The share of the Caspian basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in November 2020 amounted to 0.06%.

    Laden container throughput in the Caspian was up 11.4%. Reefer containers were non-existent in November. Imports made 61% of all the laden containers, exports accounted for 31.8%, and cabotage for 7.2% of the total.

    Empty container traffic surged 6.4-fold.

    The port of Astrakhan accounted for 85.9% of the aggregate container throughput via the Caspian basin ports in November. Olya handled 14.1% of the total.
