Russian Crude Export Down in January-October 2020

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, Russia’s crude oil export in January-October 2020 was down 10.4% year-on-year to 200 mn tons. In terms of value, crude oil export dropped by 40.6% year-on-year making slightly over $60.3 bn.

    Oil products export remained much on the previous year’s level making 116.6 mn tons. In terms of value it was down 32% to $37.6 bn.

    Diesel fuel export made 44.7 mn tons in terms of tonnage (+5.3% year-on-year) and $16.6 bn in terms of value (-30.2%).

    Petrol export in January-October 2020 increased by 32.3% year-on-year up to 5.1 mn tons worth more than $1.9 bn, down 9.2%.

    In October, Russia exported 18.2 mn tons of crude oil, down 25.3% year-on-year and down 0.9% month-on-month. In terms of value, crude oil export declined by 51.9% year-on-year and by 3.9% month-on-month to make $5.1 bn.

    Oil products export in October decreased by 17.1% year-on-year and by 12.2% month-on-month to make 9.6 mn tons worth $2.9 bn (down 46.6% year-on-year and down 13.8% month-on-month).

    Diesel fuel export made 3.8 mn tons (down 7.9% year-on-year and down 8.3% month-on-month) worth $1.2 bn (down 48.2% year-on-year and down 11.4% month-on-month).

    Car petrol export in October declined by 27.9% year-on-year and by 17.2% month-on-month making 321.1 thousand tons worth $114.9 mn, down 53.8% year-on-year and up 3.4% month-on-month.

    Natural gas export in January-October 2020 amounted to 159 bn cbm, down 11.3% year-on-year. In terms of value, it declined by 44.3% down to $19 bn.

    Liquefied natural gas export during January-October 2020 increased by 1.8% year-on-year up to 57.1 mn cbm, its value was down 14.9% to about $6 bn.

    In October, natural gas export made 17.9 bn cbm, down 7.7% year-on-year and up 11.9% month-on-month. Value-wise, it was worth $2.6 bn, down 16.2% year-on-year and up 32.1% month-on-month.

    LNG export in October amounted to 2 mn cbm dropping by 78.7% year-on-year and by 69.7% month-on-month. In terms of value, LNG export declined by 91.5% year-on-year and by 84.9% month-on-month making $67.2 mn.
