Azov and Black Sea Basin Throughput in November 2020: Grain Up 2-fold

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total cargo throughput via the Azov and Black Sea basin ports in November 2020 increased by 15.5% year-on-year. Import grew by 24.2%, cabotage by 24.6%, export was up 28.1%. Transit, on the contrary, declined by 20.2%.

    The share of the Azov and Black Sea basin in the total cargo traffic via all the Russian seaports in November 2020 amounted to 32.7%.

    Almost half of the total was oil and products, with crude oil accounting for 28.3% of the overall throughput, and oil products for 20.9%. The share of grain made 23.1%.

    It should be noted that the highest growth was in the reefers cargo segment (up 2.8-fold), metal scrap (up 2.6-fold), sugar (up 2.3 fold) and grain (up 2.1-fold).

    The commodities that decreased the most were Ro-Ro (-87.1%), crude oil (-16.6%) and non-ferrous metals (-12.5%).

    Novorossiysk accounted for 53.9% of the aggregate cargo throughput via the Russian Azov and Black basin sea ports in November. Tuapse handled 10.5%, and Taman 10.1% of the total.
