Container Traffic via Russian Ports Up 0.5% in November 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports in November 2020 increased by 0.5% year-on-year.

    Import remained much on the previous year’s level (+0.1%). Transit surged 5-fold. The growth was due to the transit container traffic through Kaliningrad. Cabotage declined by 7.3%, and export by 9.2%.

    Laden container throughput via the Russian sea ports was up 4.8%. Reefer containers accounted for 12.5% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 87.5%. Imports made 49.1% of all the laden containers, exports 31.7%, cabotage 11%, and transit 8.2%.

    Empty container traffic decreased by 13.4%.

    The Baltic basin accounted for 45.9% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian sea ports in November. The Far East basin handled 34.5%, the Azov and Black Sea basin accounted for 15.9%, the Arctic basin for 3.7% and the Caspian basin for 0.1% of the total.
