Zvezda Lays Down Shuttle Tanker

  • A shuttle tanker has been laid down at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, Rosneft reports. The Arc6 69,000 dwt tanker will be named “Valentin Pikul” after a Russian marine writer.

    The vessel is designed to operate in the Arctic in one-year open pack ice up to 1.1 meter thick in winter and spring navigation season and up  to 1.7 meter thick in summer and autumn navigation season withous icebreaking assistance.

    The 257 meters LOA (7 meters more than an Aframax tanker), 34 meters beam tanker has a draft of 14 meters and a speed of 15.5 knots.

    The vessel construction is supervised by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. The delivery scheduled for 2022. The tanker will fly the Russian flag.
