Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in October Up 9.6%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in October 2020 increased by 9.6% year-on-year. Export grew by 18.4%, import was up 33%. Cabotage was down 1.9% and transit dropped by 61.4%.

    The share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in October 2020 amounted to 36.9%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 14.4% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 6.8% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 93.2%. Imports made 49% of all the laden containers, cabotage 26.7%, exports 20.7% and transit 3.6%.

    Empty container traffic was down 0.7%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 60.8% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in October. Vostochny handled 22.8%, and Korsakov 6.4% of the total.
