Container Traffic via Baltic Basin Ports Up 3.5% in October 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Baltic basin ports in October 2020 increased by 3.5% year-on-year. Export was up 3.3%, import up 3.7%.

    The share of the Baltic basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in October 2020 amounted to 45.7%.

    Laden container throughput grew by 5.4% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 11.5% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 88.5%. Exports made 45.5% of all the laden containers, and imports 54.5%.

    Empty container traffic was down 7.2%.

    The Big Port of St. Petersburg accounted for 83.3% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Baltic basin sea ports in October. Kaliningrad handled 14.8%, and Ust-Luga 1.9% of the total.
