Car Import and Export, January-September 2020

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, Russia’s car import in January-September 2020 was down 31.4% year-on-year to 153.4 thousand units. Truck import during the first 9 months of the year declined by 29% year-on-year down to 14.9 thousand units.

    In terms of value, car import during January-September decreased by 41.7% year-on-year down to $3.4 bn. Truck import dropped by 46.5% down to $772.2 mn.

    According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, in September 2020, car import was down 12.9% year-on-year and up 27% month-on-month to make 23.5 thousand units. Truck import made 2.5 thousand units, up 4.2% year-on-year and up 19% month-on-month.

    In terms of value, car import decreased by 28.7% year-on-year and grew by 24.5% month-on-month to make $493.1 mn in September. Truck import was worth $124.4 mn, down 10.9% year-on-year and up 51.9% month-on-month.

    Russia’s car export in January-September 2020 was down 46.1% year-on-year to 45.3 thousand units. Truck export declined by 16% making 8.4 thousand units.

    In terms of value, car export was down 43.8% year-on-year amounting to $681.9 mn. Truck export decreased by 13.7% to make $223.2 mn.

    In September, car export declined by 54.7% year-on-year and grew by 26.3% month-on-month down to 4.8 thousand units. Truck export made 1.2 thousand units, down 14.3% year-on-year and up 33.3% month-on-month.

    In terms of value, car export in September dropped by 55.8% year-on-year and increased by 22.2% month-on-month to make $71.6 mn. Truck export was worth $37.2 mn, down 7% year-on-year and up 88.8% month-on-month.
