Экспорт и импорт зерновых: 9 месяцев 2020, вывоз пшеницы растет – рынок ждет ограничений

Grain Export and Import in January-September 2020: Wheat Export Up

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-September Russia exported 24.7 mn tons of wheat and meslin, up 9.1% year-on-year. In terms of value, grain export increased by 11.8% up to $5.2 bn.

    It should be noted that the Russian government may introduce a quota for grain export from Russia in the amount of 15 million tons from February 15 till June 30, 2021. The proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia to limit exports is based primarily on the need to meet the domestic demand and support food security in the country, TASS reported.

    Wheat import into Russia during January-September 2020 declined by 32.5% down to 87 thousand tons. Corn import, on the contrary, grew by 61.4% up to 45.2 thousand tons. Barley import made 26.9 thousand tons surging 5.5-fold year-on-year.

    In terms of value, wheat import was down 9.8% to $27.6 mn. Corn import was up 18.7% to $111.7 mn, barley import surged by 91.3% up to $4.4 mn.

    In September 2020 alone, wheat and meslin export made more than 5 mn tons, up 20.6% year-on-year and up 7.8% month-on-month. In terms of value, it grew by 26.8% year-on-year and by 2.1% month-on-month to make $987.3 mn.

    Wheat import in September made 7.2 thousand tons, up 7.5% year-on-year and down 29.4% month-on-month. Value-wise, wheat import increased by 22.2% year-on-year and declined by 29% month-on-month down to $2.2 bn

    Barley import made 6.4 thousand tons, up 56.1% 3.6% month-on-month, worth $900 thousand, up 80% month-on-month. Barley import was non-existent in September last year.

    Corn import was non-existent in September 2020.
