Pella to Build New Icebreaker for Rosmorport

  • The Pella Shipyard has laid the keel for a new 18 MWt icebreaker commissioned by Rosmorport, the press office of Rosmorport has informed.

    The contract was signed in September 2019. The Project 21900M2 linear diesel-electric icebreaker is to be deployed in the Russian Far Eastern ports.

    Project 21900M2 is an improved version of Project 21900M and a sistership of the icebreakers “Murmansk”, “Vladivostok”, and “Novorossiysk” with icebreaking characteristics strengthened to meet the Icebreaker7 ice class.

    The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2024.
