Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in September Up 8.3%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in September 2020 increased by 8.3% year-on-year. Export grew by 24%, import was up 31.7%. Cabotage was down 6.6% and transit down 55.6%.

    The share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in September 2020 amounted to 38.8%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 6.3% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 8.3% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 91.7%. Imports made 51.3% of all the laden containers, cabotage 23.7%, exports 20.2% and transit 4.8%.

    Empty container traffic was up 13%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 58.5% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in September. Vostochny handled 22.9%, and Korsakov 7.6% of the total.
