During January-September 2020, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was down 6.6% year-on-year to 5.7 bn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, down 6.8% year-on-year to more than 3.9 bn tons.
Rail cargo declined by 3.6% year-on-year down to 922.8 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was down 9.6% year-on-year to 774.5 mn tons.
Sea freight decreased by 4.9% year-on-year down to 17.3 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume grew by 0.3% year-on-year up to 85.6 mn tons.
Air transport carried 0.79 mn tons, down 2.3% year-on-year.
In September, sea freight and inland shipping volume increased significantly month-on-month. Also, air and pipeline cargo grew. Cargo transportation by other modes of transport declined month-on-month.
