Freight Rates from Ust-Luga, Week 43, 2020

  • On week 43, despite the drop in the Baltic dry index this week, rates for Handy / Supra / Panamax class vessels continued to rise. So, a 30k wheat shipment from the port of Rostock to Algeria would cost to $32-33 pmt. 

    According to Sea Line hip brokers, in the deep sea market, most ship owners have no desire to make voyages to such directions as China, Vietnam, Bangladesh. The reason can be the fact that in the Atlantic area rates for large vessels are more attractive.

    Many large shipowners are striving to take vessels on a long time-charter to further profit from one-time voyages due to expectations of the increase in freight rates

    Freight rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga grew, Sea Line reports.

    Last week, rates on the Ust-Luga – Continent – Ust-Luga routes were $20 pmt, rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG made $23 pmt.

    Rates from Ust-Luga were $27 pmt to West Med rates, and $31 pmt to East Med.

    Rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga to the Black Sea amounted to $33 pmt, rates to the Persian Gulf were $29 pmt.

    In the small tonnage bulker segment in the Baltic rates from Ust-Luga to most destinations declined, with the exception of Klaipeda.

    Rates from Ust-Luga to Klaipeda were €14 pmt, and those to Riga and Stockholm were €10 pmt.

    Freight rates from Ust-Luga to Hamburg made €23 pmt, and to Bremerhaven €19.5 pmt.

    Rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG were €25 pmt, and those to Dublin €33 pmt.
