According to the RF Federal Customs Service, in January-August 2020 Russia exported 121 mn tons of coal, down 9.9% year-on-year. In terms of value, coal export amounted to $7.8 bn, down 28.8% year-on-year.
Coal import during the period under report made 14 mn tons, down 0.8% year-on-year, worth $196.8 mn, down 22.2% year-on-year.
Coke and coal char export in January-August 2020 made more than 1.5 mn tons, down 20.1% year-on-year, worth $268.5 mn (-41.3% year-on-year).
In August, coal export made 16.1 mn tons, down 11.2% year-on-year and up 7.1% month-on-month. Value-wise, coal export declined by 31.2% year-on-year and by 0.8% month-on-month making $941.9 mn.
Coke and coal char export in August amounted to 190.5 thousand tons, up 9.1% year-on-year and down 32.1% month-on-month. In terms of value it was worth $33.7 mn, down 16.4% year-on-year and down 28.8% month-on-month.
