September’s Import into Russia Up 6% Month-on-Month

  • September 2002 import into Russia was up 0.3% up to $17.9 bn. Month-on-month, the growth was larger, by 5.9%.

    Value-wise, 48.7% of Russia’s import in September was high-tech machinery and equipment, chemical products made 20.6% (compared to 17.4% in August), 9.8% was food products, and 6.6% textile and footwear.

    The customs value of machinery imported in September 2020 amounted to $8.7 bn, up 0.2% year-on-year and up 1.1 month-on-month. Inside this commodity group, aircraft import was down 4.7% year-on-year and down 48.8% month-on-month to $324.5 mn, rail locomotives import was on the last year’s level and up 2.7-fold to $42.5 mn.

    The customs value of chemical products import in September made $3.7 bn, down 0.1% year-on-year and up 26.6% month-on-month. Inside this commodity group, pharmaceuticals import surged 88.3% month-on-month up to $1.2 bn.

    The customs value of textile and footwear imported in September 2020 made $1.18 bn, up 0.1% year-on-year and down 15.9% month-on-month. Clothes import was down, and footwear import up month-on-month.

    The customs value of food products increased by 0.6% year-on-year and by 3.8% month-on-month to make $1.75 bn. Inside the group, dairy and vegetables imports were up both year-on-year and month-on-month.
