Freight Rates from Ust-Luga, Week 40, 2020

  • On week 40, the number of shipments in the Baltic region started increasing, with new cargoes appearing in the market. Many owners are willing to return to the Baltic, while some shippers of grain are considering alternative routes loading from Baltic ports, according to Sea Line ship brokers

    Freight rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga to most destinations grew, the only exception being the Persian Gulf.

    Last week, rates on the Ust-Luga – Continent – Ust-Luga routes were $19.5 pmt, rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG made $21 pmt.

    Rates from Ust-Luga were $27 pmt to West Med rates, and $29.5 pmt to East Med.

    Rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga to the Black Sea amounted to $31 pmt, rates to the Persian Gulf were $27 pmt.

    In the small tonnage bulker segment in the Baltic rates were also increasing as a result of new cargoes coming into the market, so many owners prefer to fix their fleet no further than ARAG to stay in the Baltic region.

    Rates from Ust-Luga to Klaipeda were €11.5 pmt, and those to Riga and Stockholm were €9.5 pmt.

    Freight rates from Ust-Luga to Hamburg made €17 pmt, and to Bremerhaven €18 pmt.

    Rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG were €22 pmt, and those to Dublin €29 pmt.
