TOP-5 Russian Terminals Throughput in January-August 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total cargo throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-August 2020 amounted to 544.2 mn tons (-2.2%). Five terminals handled 153.1 mn tons or 28.1% of this volume.

    CPC-R in Novorossiysk remains the leader in terms of cargo throughput. Its cargo traffic decreased by 3% down to 40.3 mn tons.

    Cargo traffic via Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port amounted to 36.9 mn tons, down 26.5% year-on-year.

    Primorsk Commercial Port handled 34.8 mn tons, down 16.3% year-on-year.

    Cargo throughput via Transneft Kozmino Port in Vostochny increased by 1.3% up to 22.5 mn tons.

    Vostochny Port handled 18.7 mn tons. Its cargo traffic was up 10.8% year-on-year.

    It should be noted that the stevedores which demonstrated the highest growth did not get into the Top-5. Sakhalin-Shelf-Service in Moskalvo saw its cargo traffic surge 8.8-fold, Oteko Portservice in Taman was up 6.2-fold, Arctic Consulting Service in Arkhangelsk was up 4.9-fold.

    Also, astronomical growth figures was demonstrated by Arkhangelsk River Port, which handled 0.2 thousand tons in January-August last year, and handled many times more this year (+42,600%).

    The largest decrease in cargo traffic was in Commodity Service (Murmansk) (-95.4%), Nakhodka oil bunker (-95.3%), and Khatanga Commercial Sea Port (-92.1%)
