Russia’s First Aframax off for Sea Trials

  • The tanker “Vladimir Monomakh” built at Zvezda Shipyard in the Russian Far East has commenced sea trials. The vessels is the first Russian-built Aframax tanker.

    According to Zvezda, the ship was launched in May theis year ahead of the schedule specified by the contract and successfully completed the mooring trials. Now, the seagoing characteristics of the tanker and its operability in all modes are to be tested at sea.

    On completing the sea trials, the mechanisms of “Vladimir Monomakh” are to be surveyed by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and the customer, Rosneft’s subsidiary Rosnefeflot.

    The 114,000 dwt ICE-1А tanker is 250 LOA, 4 m beam, and has a speed of 14.6 knots. The vessel is equipped with a helipad.

    At present, Zvezda has 12 Aframax tankers in its portfolio, 10 of them are being built for Rosneft.
