Container Traffic via Arctic Basin Ports in July 2020 Up 6.2%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Arctic basin ports in July 2020 increased by 6.2% year-on-year. Cabotage, which accounts for the major share of the total, grew by 3.6%. Export surged 2.3-fold. Import made 205 TEU.

    The share of the Arctic basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in July 2020 amounted to 3.2%.

    Laden container throughput in the Arctic declined by 2.6% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 2.9% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 97.1%. Cabotage made 97.5% of all the laden containers, and exports 2.5%.

    Empty container traffic grew by 26.5%.

    The port of Dudinka accounted for 34.5% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Arctic basin sea ports in July. Arkhangelsk handled 31.9% of the total, and Murmansk 21.1%.
