TOP-5 Russian Container Terminals in January-July 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-July 2020 amounted to more than 3 mn TEU. Five terminals handled 1.7 mn TEU or 55.6% of this volume.

    Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg remains the leader in terms of container throughput. Its container traffic decreased by 14.3% down to 395.3 thousand TEU.

    First Container Terminal saw its container traffic grow by 0.7% up to 375.4 thousand TEU.

    Container traffic via Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) amounted to 371.7 thousand TEU, up 8.1% year-on-year.

    NUTEP increased its container traffic by 37.2% up to 285.7 thousand TEU.

    Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company handled 252.3 thousand TEU, up 9.4% year-on-year.

    It should be noted that the highest container throughput growth was via Arctic Consulting Service in Arkhangelsk. Its container traffic surged 4.6-fold. Pevek Sea Port was up 70.7%, and Pervomayskiy Seaport of Vladivostok up 66.1%.

    Also, astronomical growth figures were demonstrated by stevedores, which had just a couple containers last year and handled a hundred or two TEU this year, thus, Nikolaevsk Commercial Sea Port was up 49,000%, and Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port up +5,700%.

    The largest decrease in container traffic was in Dalzavod-Terminal (Vladivostok) (-99%), Tiksi Sea Port (-88.7%) and Sea Port of the Troitsa Bay in Zarubino (-71.2%).
