According to SeaNews Russian Foreign Trade Customs Statistics online service, in Q1 2020 Russia exported 1.4 mn tons (+29% year-on-year) of vegetable oil worth $989 mn (+33.5%).
Sunflower oil accounted for the major part of exports amounting to 1 mn tons, 36.3% more than a year earlier. In monetary terms, sunflower oil export also increased by 36.3% to make $707.3 mn. The major countries of destination were India, China, Turkey, and Egypt.
Soybean oil export increased by 5.6% up to 176.2 thousand tons in terms of weight, and by 18.4% up to $128.2 mn in monetary terms. Most of the shipments were designated for China and Algeria.
Rapeseed oil export made 151.7 thousand tons (+15.9%) worth $130.2 mn (+33.3%). The largest share was shipped to China, Norway, Lithuania, Latvia and the Netherlands.
During the first quarter of 2020, vegetable oil from Russia was exported to 70 countries. The major export destinations were China, India and Turkey.
Export to China increased by 4.6 times up to 362.7 thousand tons in terms of tonnage and by 4.8 times up to 268.2 million dollars in monetary terms. Most of the export was sunflower, rapeseed and soybean oils.
Export of vegetable oil to India surged 9-fold up to 214.4 thousand tons worth$145.6 mn, up 9.5 times. The entire amount as sunflower oil.
Sunflower oil shipments to Turkey made 158 thousand tons (-5.7%) worth $106.6 mn (-1.2%).
