Container Traffic via Azov and Black Sea Basin Ports in April 2020 down 5.8%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Azov and Black Sea basin ports in April 2020 decreased by 5.8% year-on-year. Import was down 7.3%, export down 4.4%, and transit dropped by 32%. Cabotage, on the contrary, grew by 22.5%.

    The share of the Azov and Black Sea basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in April 2020 amounted to 15.7%.

    Laden container throughput decreased by 3.1% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 22.2% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 77.8%. Imports made 54.17% of all the laden containers, exports 45.7%, transit 0.07%, and cabotage 0.06%.

    Empty container traffic declined by 12.5%.

    The port of Novorossiysk accounted for 99.1% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Azov and Black Sea basin sea ports in April. Azov handled 0.7%, and Kavkaz 0.2% of the total.
