According to SeaNews Russian Foreign Trade Customs Statistics online service, in 2019, Russia imported 17.9 thousand units of trailers and semi-trailers, down 26.9% year-on-year, worth $368.3 mn (-26%).
Trailers and semi-trailers were shipped to Russia from 40 countries last year. The main supplier was Germany, while the main regions of destination were Moscow, Tula, Smolensk, Kaliningrad and Moscow regions and St. Petersburg.
The import of trailers and semi-trailers for cargo transportation in 2019 amounted to 15.5 thousand units (-30.4%) worth $349.7 mn (-26.1%). More than half of the machinery was supplied from Germany.
The import of trailers and semi-trailers for agriculture decreased by 29% down to 576 units worth $15 mn, down 28.6% year-on-year. The main exporting countries were Belarus and Germany. The equipment was mainly designated for Moscow, Smolensk and Sverdlovsk regions.
The import of trailers and semi-trailers for travelers made 91 units (+59.6%) worth $308 mn (+83.3%). For the most part the vehicles came from Belarus, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium to Moscow and Smolensk region.
The import of trailers and semi-trailers to Russia from Germany decreased by 44% to 6.3 thousand units worth $212.5 mn, down 37.8%. More than half of the vehicles were delivered to Moscow, Kaliningrad and Smolensk regions.
3.3 thousand trailers and semi-trailers (-41.1%) worth $1.5 mn (-72.2%) were imported from Ukraine. Most of the machinery was designated for the Vologda, Voronezh, Tula and Smolensk regions, as well as to Krasnoyarsk Kray.
Shipments from Belarus increased by 45% up to 2.4 thousand units worth $17.1 mn, down 6.6% year-on-year. Belarusian trailers and semi-trailers were shipped mainly to Moscow and Moscow region.
The import of trailers and semi-trailers from Turkey increased by 65.9% up to 2.5 thousand worth $58 mn (+52.6%). Three quarters of these (in physical terms) were shipped to Tula region, Moscow and Tatarstan.
