According to Russian Railways, the loading of cargo designated for export via Russian sea ports made 308.8 mn tons during January 2020 decreasing by 1.2% year-on-year.
45.7% of the entire volume was coal declining by 1.6% down to 11.8 mn tons during the period under report.
Coal loading designated for South Russian ports surged by 44.8% year-on-year up to 1.2 mn tons, that to North-Western ports decreased by 4.3% down to 3.8 mn tons, and that to the Russian Far East by 5.4% down to 1.2 mn tons.
Oil accounted for 31.6% of the total export rail freight, ferrous metals for 8.1%, and fertilizers for 5.1% of the total.
In January, 8.2 mn tons of oil and products were loaded to be carried by rail to sea terminals, up 4.1% year-on-year. Oil and products designated for the Southern ports made 3.1 mn tons (+2.8%), those for the North-Western ports made 4.4 mn tons (+4.3%), and those for the Far Eastern ports amounted to 12 mn tons (+5.4%).
The entire cargo amount loaded for export via the North-Western sea ports declined by 2.9% year-on-year down to 10.7 mn tons. The Southern region ports accounted for 7 mn tons, up 2.7% year-on-year. Cargo volume loaded for export via the ports of the Russian Far East made 8.3 mn tons, down 2.1% year-on-year.
