W.e.f. February 3, 2020, icebreaking period was announced in the Big Port of St. Petersburg and approach channels and fairways.
Since the same date, icebreaking period started in the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg.
The winter of 2019-2020 has so far been exceptionally mild in St. Petersburg, the January temperature average being the highest since weather observation started.
Ice is just starting to build up in the port basin, in the Sea Channel and in the Kronstadt Fairway.
