Russian Government to Subsidize Nuclear Icebreaker Construction

  • The Government of the Russian Federation has earmarked 127.5 billion rubles ($2.1 billion) from the federal budget to build the first nuclear icebreaker of the 10510 Leader Project.

    Financing will be provided during 2020 through 2027, when the icebreaker is expected to be put into operation. The state corporation Rosatom will act as the customer of the construction.

    In 2020, over 16 billion rubles ($260.5 million) will be allotted for building the icebreaker.
