Russian Container Terminals throughput in December

Container Traffic via Russian Ports up 2.2% in December 2019

  • According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports in December 2019 grew by 2.2% year-on-year.

    Import container traffic was down 3.3%. Cabotage increased by 8%, export by 5.9%. Transit remained much on the previous year’s level (-0.6%).

    The Baltic basin ports account for the largest share in the Russian sea ports’ combined container throughput handling in December 202.7 thousand TEU, down 2.3% year-on-year.

    The Russian Far Eastern ports saw their container traffic increase by 9.3% up to 160.4 thousand TEU.

    The Azov and Black Sea basin ports handled 89.7 thousand TEU, up 0.4% year-on-year.

    Container traffic via the Arctic basin ports amounted to 15.5 thousand TEU, up 5.5% year-on-year.

    The Caspian basin ports decreased their container throughput by 11.5% down to 169 TEU.
