FESCO Transportation Group has added a new container vessel to its fleet. On November 21, 2019, the Russian flag was raised on the ship that now bears the name “FESCO Moneron”.
The 822 TEU vessel will be deployed on FESCO Magadan cabotage service (FML) already served by “FESCO Magadan”, a sister ship of “FESCO Moneron” that the company purchased last year, and the “FESCO Posyet” universal bulk carrier.
“FESCO Moneron” is to enter the service at the end of 2019 or in early 2020 at the latest.
The Arc4 ice class vessel complies with the standards required for operating in the northern part of the Sea of Okhotsk in winter.
The ship is fitted with modern equipment and has a high degree of automation. The crew consists of 14 people.
The vessel got its name after the island of Moneron situated in the Gulf of Tartary 43 kilometers from the south-west coast of Sakhalin. The island was discovered in August 1787 by the expedition of La Perouse, who named it Moneron after his associate Paul Monneron.
